MAXIMO PELIGRO AND THE BOMB

Wednesday, January 26, 2011 1
After last year’s hostage-taking drama that caught worldwide attention, Philippines is once again in the limelight.
When I arrived home yesterday afternoon, I went over my usual routine—doing some personal stuff that need not be mentioned and logging in to my social networking accounts. I got pretty surprised when I checked my Twitter timeline. It was flooded with tweets from @inquirerdotnet, @ABSCBNnews. @ANCalerts, and other news organizations and personnel. Something really big made it to the headlines.

Terror alert in Philippines after bus bomb kills 4

Full story here
-----------------------------------------------------
Updates about the terrifying incident appeared on my timeline one after another.
Here are some news tidbits that I got first-hand from Twitter. (Segue: one particular thing I like about Twitter is getting updated about the latest buzz about all facets of life—politics, current events, show business, etc.).

DZIQ: Bus blast toll now at 5 dead (http://goo.gl/fb/UP1RN)

Two men planted bomb in Newman Goldliner bus—police(http://goo.gl/fb/RyloM)

MILF denies any part in EDSA bus bombing, calls it satanic(http://goo.gl/fb/Bps2w)

DZIQ: Bus blast victim’s final call (http://goo.gl/fb/wVW0V)

For the nth time, Philippines’ (already) scarred face gets more blemished. But, as always, there are better days for us.

A perfect song to inspire everyone.

I sympathize to all those who lost their loved ones and I pray for a fast recovery of those who got injured.

You might wonder who Maximo Peligro is. Well, despite the unfortunate incident, some Filipinos still found humor from it... and that would be the bizarre coincidence of the driver's name and the ill-fated event. " "Maximo Peligro" literally means Maximum Danger/Risk.
When people heard about the driver's name, their immediate reaction was so "Grey's Anatomy"...
"SERIOUSLY?"

Whenever I feel bad,
I just shout 'Expecto Patronum'
then I feel okay
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a trivia which I just learned from Wikipedia.
Suggested etymology: Expecto Patronum is correct classical Latin for "I await a protector". It is related to "pater" (father) and Harry's Patronus indeed takes the same form as that of his father's animagus form (a stag).

TOP FIVE PUJ(Public Utility Jeepney) DRIVERS I HATE

Saturday, January 22, 2011 0
Jeepneys are part of my daily school life. For the most part, I thank the jeepney drivers for bringing me safely from home to school and vice versa; however, an infinitesimal increment of me(yes, this one needs some calculus/integration) wants to curse some members of this species.
This time, spells which I learned from Hogwarts, albeit unforgivable, might come in handy. Let me browse my book, "A Guide to Being a Marvelous Wizard by Albus Dumbledore," which I just purchased from Diagon Alley yesterday with my three best friends-- Harry, Hermione, and Ron. (ha-ha).

"Hmmmm.... AHA! There!"
This is exactly what I was looking for.
---------------------------------------------------------
These PUJ drivers better prepare to be Imperio-ed:

#1- Jeepney Drivers who WANT YOU DEAD
-They drop you off  in the middle of the road with fleeting trucks and cars ready to smite you at any moment. Aside from possible injuries you might face head on, it could be your last day on this planet. Prepare to enjoy the glory of eternal life and finally break free from the shackles of suffering.

#2- Jeepney Drivers who JERK A LOT
-(I said jerk, not jerk off) Of course, we all hate that feeling of getting suddenly pushed back and forth especially when we're still about to get on or alight the jeepney.
These jeepney drivers either want you to lose a tooth, get a concussion, break a bone, or die a little because of embarrassment as you stumble and fumble your way into your seat/out of the jeepney.

#3- Jeepney Drivers who GIVE AN UNSOLICITED ROLLER COASTER RIDE
-Riding a roller coaster spells fun but when a jeepney acts like a roller coaster... you gotta be doomed. Close your mouth 'cause you might puke your inards out.

#4- Jeepney Drivers who THINK YOU'RE STUPID
-They intentionally don't give your change right away expecting you to actually forget about it which is never gonna happen since it's imprinted in your head the moment you paid for your fare.

#5- Jeepney Drivers who GLOWER, SCOWL, FROWN LIKE A BOSS
-I don't know if they've eaten something totally gross that turned them into some really nasty beasts or they're just innately hostile. But, seriously, they need to gulp a lot of sunshine with sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Juan dela Cruz, the Yellow Wiley Beast, and The Road to Nowhere

Wednesday, January 19, 2011 3
That's the title of the first book I am going to write. Kidding. Writing a book is not part of my dream nor is it a part of my array of knacks. Kidding again. I don't have an array of knacks. I think I only have one knack and that would be... living this life the way I want to. Oh, Scratch that! That's not a knack. So, I don't even have one. My life is as colorful as a black painted wall.

January 18, 2010(oops!) 2011

My day started the same... as ordinary as a piece of pan de sal from the local bakery.

At 10:15am, I arrived at the barren lobby of Melchor Hall in UP. Copies of the Phil Collegian/Kule, the official weekly publication of UP was piled up in a corner. Reading 'Kule' has already been part of my hobbies; it gave me a good overview of the pressing issues our country deals with or is yet to deal with. I immediately grabbed a copy, scanned the pages enthusiastically, and went rushing to my ES11 class.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juan dela Cruz
For most of us, life doesn't get  better every day. Yes, we hope... we pray. We sleep at night dreaming that probably "tomorrow" would indeed be a better day-- brighter and more bombastic than "yesterday." But, NO. The waves don't always thrust us forward. And the stars are not always there to emblazon the dark, ominous night sky.
Juan dela Cruz just woke up from a terrible nightmare. He was already dancing to the beat of  "Here Comes the Sun" with a sparkly smile. Never was that smile painted on his face for nine straight years. That day was different. It was sunshiny... it was full of hope. That day marked the threshold of the door to 'hope' and 'change.' Was it just a dream? Or was it a bigger nightmare  disguising to be one of his best dreams?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juan dela Cruz was wrong... so wrong. The sinister goblin from his first nightmare might have vanished but the Yellow Wiley Beast and his minions are there... lurking and slowly revealing themselves into what he thought was a dream.

The Hidden Meaning

Sunday, January 16, 2011 3
This is an interesting read which I should have posted eons ago but I forgot. I really don't know if everything that's said here is true; however, the writer is knowledgeable of  the subject and his observations are outstandingly keen .

I got this from vigilantcitizen.com, one of the blogs which I religiously follow.

The 2009 VMAs: The Occult Mega-Ritual

From unexpected drama to shocking performances, MTV’s 2009 Video Music Awards managed once again to raise eyebrows and get people talking. What most people missed, however,  were the occult meanings encoded in the VMAs. The TV event was in fact a large scale occult ceremony, complete with an initiation, a prayer and even a blood sacrifice. We’ll look at the symbolism that appeared during the show.
mtc
MTV’s Video Music Awards have often incorporated dark and strange acts, containing some occult symbolism. This year’s version, however, outdid itself. The show left most people wondering what was wrong with Kanye West or trying compute the madness of Lady Gaga’s performance. The only way to understand the full meaning behind those performances is to look into esoteric teachings. The fact is that the whole awards show took the most common rituals of occult orders and re-enacted them in a show witnessed by the entire world.
This year’s VMA’s were very different from other awards shows. They focused on a very limited number of artists (Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga), while ignoring many others who were equally successful. The “chosen” artists became characters in the VMA’s ceremony and acted out different ritual dramas. This might sound totally crazy to the average MTV viewer but those acquainted with the practices of occult orders (such as Freemasonry) can decode the references to sacred rituals.  There are numerous types of fraternities and rituals, from the most noble to the most infernal, and they have existed throughout History. The VMAs were decisively inspired by dark, sinister and even Satanic ceremonies.  Let’s look at those rituals.

damnyouautocorrect.com

While browsing one of my favorite blogs, chicogarcia.wordpress.com, I saw his post about damnyouautocorrect.com. I immediately visited the site and AHA! the site is HI-LA-RIOUS!

Here are some posts which I really LMAO-ed on:

A Great Beginning for an Incredible Year

My 2010 ended with a bang. My 2011 was welcomed  with very loud and incessant cracks.

It has been two weeks since the New Year's Celebration. And... I must say I had a great start for 2011; except for the fact that my acad life was kick-started  by two heavyweight exams-- ES 11 and Physics 72. In addition, since I still got a hangover from the Christmas break, I wasn't able to study well; hence, I took the exam unprepared. And, at this very moment, I can strongly feel the bad vibes coming. It's just lurking out there waiting for the right time to smother me-- which, I assume, would be next week when the exam results are released.

Despite the aforementioned negativity, I still remain positive and ecstaticallly happy... well, most of the time, I am. I've really changed. Right now, I'm no longer as 'grade-conscious' as I was in high school. I bet because the level of difficulty has skyrocketed while my intelligence has plummeted. So, I decided to just enjoy my life.

A Flash Back
1/1/11
For me, Number One always has a positive connotation. It basically signifies success... You're on top... You're the best... I'm thinking, this year, with all the 1's in it would be a year of productivity and prosperity. OHAI!

As the superstition says, our general disposition at the very first day of the year would be, most likely, how our entire year would go. So, I stuck to the "better-safe-than-sorry" cliche and tried to be as happy and as properly-disposed as possible-- which I actually managed quite remarkably. It was easy since, on that very day, people around me were as bright and shiny as the stars.

On the night of 1/1/11, we decided to go gallivanting at Luneta Park and perhaps see the 'dancing fountain.' It's not an ordinary night; as expected, traffic was heavy. It was as clogged as my nose when I have a cold. (ha-ha). My cousin's husband drove patiently along Roxas Blvd. After almost an hour of burning our butts, we finally saw the flags of Luneta dancing with the breeze.

But the long wait was put to waste... we had no parking space for our car and worse, my cousin decided not to pursue our plan. Legions of people were out there and we have to lunge our way into crowd which spells a big fuss since we were bringing her one-year-old son with us.

We came up with the best alternative we could think of, go to MOA instead. It was merely out of not regretting the money we spent for the fuel and the long drive it took us to get there. Still, there were lots of people at MOA but relative to Luneta, it was a lot less.

As usual, picture here and picture there. Eat. Stroll. Eat.

Kuya Jappy(my cousin's husband), Tayshaun (my nephew), Ate Aye(my cousin), That's me!, Anne(my sister) and my Lola Susing.
My sister, my cousin, my grandma, and Ate Margie(Tayshaun's yaya)

I don't know what's up with lola and her towels. (ha-ha). Her towels always manage to mess up our pictures.

And... my life pretty much goes on like the brightest and most colorful fireworks.

I'll inhale positivity this year!

LOST

Monday, January 3, 2011 0

I know... this show already ended but I just started watching it. (ha-ha) Why am I so late?! And the graphs above (sort of) summarize my experience. I don't know if I should watch it until its last season or just stop 'cause it's a waste of time and disk space.

Honestly, I'm also kinda lost watching this show.

A Very Merry Christmas

Thursday, December 30, 2010 0

It was my second time to spend Christmas away from home. Uhm... Actually, I must say not-so-far-away from home or maybe... almost-but-not-quite-home. I think I should go with the latter..."almost-but-not-quite-home."

It's really cool that my sister's already in Manila; and gladly, we also have some relatives here. They're not technically the home most of us consider but... I guess in the "home strata" (if such a thing exists), they come right next to our immediate family.

Unlike last year, we celebrated the Christmas at Ate Aye's place(my eldest cousin-mother's side). We started rocking and rolling at 6:00pm when my uncles, and my aunt, and my kiddie cousins arrived. We ate dinner together and devoured as much food as we could muster. Since one of my uncles just arrived from Dubai, we had a pretty long chitchat. When we already grew tired of talking, we set-up the Magic Sing and started our endless karaoke singing. We're a family of singers... FRUSTRATED singers. We burst into laughter when my three-year old cousin insisted on singing. He memorized a couple of songs and he was simply great. Spontaneous Cuteness is really a kid's advantage. The happiness kids exude is contagious. They smile, and without you noticing it, you also smile. Time passed quite rapidly. We got preoccupied with singing that we hadn't even noticed.  Finally, it was time for the Noche Buena.

As most Christmases are, It was a sleepless night. In our case, we were actually compelled not to sleep until 2:00am since we still needed to drive Tito Renato to the airport for his flight to Davao. At 2:30, we arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 and we were surprised to see the queue. It was unreal. We have never drove someone to the airport on a 25th of December before so, we got really overwhelmed by the crowd. Spending the Christmas with your family even just for a few hours is already a huge sacrifice.

Truth be told... I'm not a sappy person. Celebrating the Christmas with anybody is absolutely fine with me as long as they're fun to be with.... SERIOUSLY.  Most of the time, I set negative emotions aside. And.. I don't believe in missing people. I think it's all just in our head. I do admit saying "I miss you" but honestly... I don't mean it. LOL. So much for me being insensitive...

Ooooh! I almost forgot. December 24 is also my Lola's birthday. This year, we celebrated her 71st happy year. Long live my Lola and I wish her more birthdays to come. :)

UP Lantern Parade

Sunday, December 19, 2010 0

As an integral part of UP's Christmas Tradition, the Lantern Parade was once again colorfully conducted this year.

------------------------------------------------------------------
College of Architecture
Most of them wore Architrectural costumes. It was like a parade of epitomized buildings from all over the world. I think it would have been better if they included the Great Wall of China. (ha-ha)

My favorite in the Archi bunch...
I guess she must have strained her arms holding up that torch for hours.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
College of Mass Comm.
Yes, they flaunted a humungous Ipod around the Acad Oval. I loved their gimmick... creative and innovative.
Their protests/clamors were also incorporated into their lantern. Well, in fact, it was the Ipod's main theme.
