January 18,
My day started the same... as ordinary as a piece of pan de sal from the local bakery.
At 10:15am, I arrived at the barren lobby of Melchor Hall in UP. Copies of the Phil Collegian/Kule, the official weekly publication of UP was piled up in a corner. Reading 'Kule' has already been part of my hobbies; it gave me a good overview of the pressing issues our country deals with or is yet to deal with. I immediately grabbed a copy, scanned the pages enthusiastically, and went rushing to my ES11 class.

Juan dela Cruz
For most of us, life doesn't get better every day. Yes, we hope... we pray. We sleep at night dreaming that probably "tomorrow" would indeed be a better day-- brighter and more bombastic than "yesterday." But, NO. The waves don't always thrust us forward. And the stars are not always there to emblazon the dark, ominous night sky.
Juan dela Cruz just woke up from a terrible nightmare. He was already dancing to the beat of "Here Comes the Sun" with a sparkly smile. Never was that smile painted on his face for nine straight years. That day was different. It was sunshiny... it was full of hope. That day marked the threshold of the door to 'hope' and 'change.' Was it just a dream? Or was it a bigger nightmare disguising to be one of his best dreams?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Juan dela Cruz was wrong... so wrong. The sinister goblin from his first nightmare might have vanished but the Yellow Wiley Beast and his minions are there... lurking and slowly revealing themselves into what he thought was a dream.
